2018 Pennants drawing to a close

Published March 05, 2018 12:03

Sunday 4 March saw the final round of preliminary matches and all eyes are now turned towards next weekend when the pennants will be decided.

The junior competition this year was too small to have a final and has been played in round robin format on a "first past the post" basis.

With one round to play Toukley has a 2 point advantage over their nearest rival, Wyong. In the final round Wyong will play Shelly Beach at Toukley commencing at 12.30pm whilst Toukley takes on Morisset at Everglades commencing at 11.19am. Both of the matches will be played on Saturday 10 March.

The Open Pennant was played in 2 Divisions and on Sunday 11 March the winners of each Division will play off for the flag.

"A" grade will be played between Everglades and Wyong at Kooindah Waters commencing at 12.10pm. After the preliminary rounds both clubs finished with 8 competition points winning all 4 of their preliminary rounds, Everglades winning 22.5 individual matches with Wyong taking 22 matches. This should be a most interesting match to watch.

"B" grade is again between Everglades and Wyong and will be played at Shelly Beach commencing at 12.10pm. In the preliminary rounds Everglades scored 8 contest points with 9 individual matches whilst in the other Division Wyong and Gosford finished on 6 contest points with Wyong claiming the spot in the final on a countback with 9.5 matches to Gosford's 8.

"C" grade is between Mangrove Mt and Toukley with play commencing at 11.00am at Everglades. In the preliminary rounds Toukley captured 8 contest points whilst Mangrove Mt posted 7. Both clubs were clear winners of their Division.

Congratulations is extended to all of the clubs and players for making the final and we are looking forward to close tussles in the finals.

Spectators are welcome. Good luck to all of the players for this coming weekend.
