The local playoff for a spot in the State final of the Meno Mixed Fourball Championship to be played at Bonville from 8 September to 11 September was played on Sunday 28 June at The Springs Golf Club.
Similar to most of the courses on the Coast The Springs was somewhat soggy underfoot but that cannot detract from what is a most beautiful golf course. Due to the wet conditions players could not use golf carts and the wet ground made the course longer and a little heavy to walk on.
Nevertheless the players who had won through their domestic qualifying events took to the course with gusto and once the dust had settled Helen Alexander and her partner Geoff Saunders from Wyong Golf Club took the prize with a score of plus 3. Helen and Geoff will now progress to the State final in September with the best wishes of all golfers on the Coast.
If by chance Helen and Geoff cannot go Ali and Mike Caswell of Toukley as runners up will be offered the trip. Ali and Mike prevailed in a countback over Rhonda and Walter Robertson after both pairings returned scores of square.
