Coast golfers off to Parkes and Gloucester

The 2014 NSW Country Championship is to be played at Parkes Golf Club over the weekend of 1 & 2 November and 6 of the Coasts leading players will make the journey to try and win not only the Country Championship but the Inter District Championship which is played in conjunction with the Country Championship.

The team, which is chosen based on scores returned in the Regional Championships played at Muswellbrook earlier in the year, is Brandan Biddle (Ev), Darcy Boyd (Tou), Damien Chambers (Wy), James Swanson (SB), Greg Watton (Wy) and Craig Wickham (Wy). Both Brandan and Darcy are still juniors with a few years before they progress to the senior ranks and it is pleasing that although our Junior ranks have diminished in numbers over recent years the strength is still there and that these fine young golfers were able to play their way onto the team.

Over the same weekend the annual Junior 4 Way series between CCDGA, Hunter River DGA, Lower North Coast DGA and Newcastle DGA is to be played at Gloucester Golf Club. This event is aimed at giving youngsters knocking on the door for selection in the District sides experience in match play and a taste of representative golf. The squad to travel to Gloucester is Kane Andres (Ev), Jake Eliasson (Tou), Liam Gocher (SB), Eden Middleton (Wy), Dylan Moore (Tou), Trevor Piefke (SB) and Aaron Walters (Ev).

No doubt the best wishes of all golfers on the Coast go out to both teams.
