Newcastle prove too strong

The annual clash against Newcastle DGA for the Artie Mollett trophy was played at Toronto Golf Club on Sunday 28 July but unfortunately for CCDGA the opposition proved too strong and took the prize 11 matches to 7.

The Toronto course was in great condition with lightning fast greens that had all of the players scratching their heads in the early part of the round. However, it did not take long for the boys to come to grips with the nuances of the greens and some great golf was played by both sides.

Through the turn the result looked to be closer than it finished and but for the odd bounce the result might have been a little closer. Full results can be found under the Representative tab.

Before play commenced Dave Willett was presented with a suitably embroidered vest to commemorate his recent hole in one against LNCDGA at Wyong but the presentation was overshadowed by Brent Soutar sporting a jumper featuring the CCDGA logo (the Executive is investigating why and how he acquired the jumper and the illegal use of the District logo) and one member of the team commented to Brent that at least his jumper has sleeves in it.
