Such is the interest in this new event even though the quarter finalists were only revealed in the past week all matches have been completed and the semi finalists determined.
James Swanson (Shelly Beach) will meet young gun Ethan Forsyth (Wyong) in the first of the semis and this should be an enthralling match to watch. James, still only a young man even though he seems to have been around District teams and competitions for a thousand years, is well versed in the intricacies of the Match Play format and will need to bring all of his experience and guile to his match with Ethan. Ethan ,too, is a CCDGA representative player who has experienced all that Match Play can throw at you and couples the benefit of his relatively short representative career with prodigious hitting that would be at home in any long drive competition.
In the other semi, Craig Wickham, like James an established District player with years of match play experience and current great form, will take on a relative newcomer to the local scene, Damien Chambers of Everglades. Damien represented CCDGA for the first time in 2014 after spending much of his early career on the far North Coast of NSW and he should test Craig to the limit.
The venue for the semis is still to be confirmed but as soon as dates, places and times are established details will be posted so that anyone wishing to go along and see some great golf played can pencil it into their programme.
