A decision was taken in late 2013 to introduce a Matchplay Championship in 2014 and given his love of matchplay it seemed logical to name the event in honour of long serving Captain, Tony Lamaro.
Qualifying for the event was held in conjunction with the 2014 Singles Championship held at Morisset Country Club on 19 January with the leading 16 players advancing to the matchplay event. Preliminary rounds will be played over coming weeks culminating in the final on 29 March 2014.
